The Unani system of medicine owes as its name suggest its origin of grace through its theoritical frame work is based on the teaching ofhiporatus (462-577BC) and galen (l34-210 AD) .It was developed in to an elaborate medical system by the Arabs who gave it a scientific base. This system is known as in different part of the world, with different name such as greco-Arab Medicine, Traditional Medicine, Oriental Medicine, Loman Medicine, Islamic Medicine etc. lt is based on the humoral theory. This theory pre supposes the presence of four humors blood (Dam), Phlegm (Balgham) Yellow BilefSafra and Black bile (Sauda) in the body.

The Temperamentation of persons are accordingly expressed by the word sanguine, phlegamatic choleric and malanocholic according the prepondexance in them of humors blood phlegm.Yellow bile and black bile respectively. The humors them selves are assigned temperaments blood is hot and moist, yellow bile hot and dry and black bile cold and dry.
